Couple killed in ‘witch hunting’ in Assam

Guwahati, Aug 16 (UNI) A couple was killed in an incident of ‘witch hunting’ in Hasora tea estate in Doomdoma in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district today.
Local reports said here the couple — Haren Kishan and Shivratri Karmakar, were killed by a section of tea garden workers on allegation of practising black magic.
Police later reached the place and retrieved the bodies.
Killing people, especially old persons and women, on allegations of practising black magic is a major problem in parts of Assam. UNI
