Medical seats from Central pool for Meghalaya students increased to 42

SHILLONG: Following the recommendations and follow-up by the State Government, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has allotted   42 seats from the Central pool   to the students of Meghalaya for pursuing medical studies.

The decision of the   Ministry to increase the allotment   of seats to 42 for Meghalaya is a record setter as earlier allocation was only 26 seats.

The Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, H M Shangpliang has informed that apart from 42 seats of central pool, 35 seats are also allocated to the students and that makes total number of seats available for students of Meghalaya 77.

As per institute-wise breakup, out of 35 seats, 13 seats will be allocated to Regional Institute of Medical Science, Imphal, nine seats to NEIGRIHMS, 10 in medical colleges in Assam and three in Tripura.

The process of allotting of the seats will be taken up by the State Government in a week’s time, Shangpliang said.
