Jawans accused of abusing woman

SHILLONG: A woman shopkeeper has alleged that two Assam Rifles personnel, who were inebriated and in civil dresses, allegedly abused her at AR Bazar Happy Valley, Shillong.
Devi Das, who runs a roadside eatery shop, alleged that the personnel came to her shop and purchased ‘pakoras’ for Rs 30 but gave a 500-rupee note.
When she asked for smaller denominations, they indecently abused her and left without paying.
Later, the two personnel returned with around a dozen colleagues and alleged that her son had assaulted them, but when they saw a police patrol party, they fled.
Later, the Assam Rifles Commandant informed Madanrting PS over the phone that two AR personnel – Deepak Kumar Das (26) and Govind Thakur (27) – sustained injuries and were being sent for medical examination in their unit hospital.
