SHILLONG: The former deputy chief minister, Rowell Lyngdoh, who was removed from the post of president, Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee has adopted a cautious approach on the matter.
While hinting that it was the handiwork of MPCC president DD Lapang, Lyngdoh, however, said that all his supporters were still with him.
It was on last Friday that the Mawkyrwat Block Congress Committee was dissolved when Lyngdoh was out of station in connection with a meeting of the Assembly Committee on SC/ST.
“I came to know about the development only when I returned on Tuesday,” Lyngdoh told The Shillong Times on Wednesday.
The veteran Congress leader will meet his close supporters at Mawkyrwat on August 25.
“Though the Block Congress Committee was dissolved and a new body was formed, the people are still with me,” Lyngdoh asserted.
A year ago, Lyngdoh, who was vocal against Lapang and Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, was removed from the Cabinet along with AL Hek.
When asked about his next move, Lyngdoh said, “I am still a disciplined soldier of the party and I have no intention to join any other party.”
However, sources said with the humiliation, his supporters wanted Lyngdoh to shift party allegiance.
