SHILLONG: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president and South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai has once again reiterated that he would stick to the party and not join BJP.
Speaking to media persons here after inaugurating the party’s city office on Wednesday, Shullai said he is not aware of any such move that he would leave NCP and blamed propaganda behind the speculation.
“We are a disciplined party and if I had joined BJP I would have received some letter about leaving the party from the NCP president but I have not received any letter,” he said.
On BJP, the NCP leader said that the party does not even have an MLA in the state and it is only clamouring for power from outside.
On being asked if BJP is a threat, Shullai said the situation in Meghalaya is different from the rest of the country. “People here vote for individuals. The party is a secondary factor.”
Though there were reports that Saleng Sangma may take over as the new state president, Shullai said Saleng has been given full charge of the party as an associate member and has been given a free hand to revamp the party in Garo Hills and the entire state.
