Enrolment for Aadhaar to begin in WGH

SHILLONG:  The enrolment for Aadhaar in West Garo Hills would begin very soon. Informing this on Friday, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Pravin Bakshi said that in the first and initial phase, Aadhar enrollment will be done in Deputy Commissioner’s Office for Government officers and Staffs.

At the same time, enrolment would also be conducted in Montfort School for differently abled students. In addition, a special enrolment drive would also be conducted for ITI students and in Tura Municipal Board office.

Stating that a population of around 5 lakhs is to be enrolled for Aadhaar in the District, Bakshi added that no local area committee or Nokma should charge anything for issuance of residential certificate as it is their public duty and obligation

The enrolment   for Aadhaar in the district was conducted earlier but later it was stopped. It may be mentioned that Over 3 lakh citizens in Meghalaya have enrolled for Aadhaar so far

The regional office of the Unique Identification Authority of India in Guwahati recently said that the Aadhaar generation status is that 3,60,924 persons have enrolled in the state.

The breakup of registration is Shillong 193718, Tura 45332, Nongstoin 47253, Nongpoh 21555, Williamnagar 19767, Jowai 17186, Ampati 9702, Khliehriat 3040, Mawkyrwat 2497, Resubelpara 500 and Baghmara 374.
