TURA: The budget session of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) may be hampered as several hundreds of its employees, who have not received their salaries for the last 11 months, have decided to go on a two-day strike from Monday.
The employees will hold their sit-in demonstration in front of the office premises on Monday and Tuesday.
GHADC chief executive member Boston Marak has asked the employees to call off the strike as this would affect official work during the three-day budget session from Monday.
The GHADC has been plagued with widespread financial mismanagement over the last many years as a result of which salaries were delayed for months every year.
