SHILLONG: Ri-Bhoi Students’ Union (RBSU), central body and Ri-Bhoi Youth Development & Social Organization (RBYDSO) have demanded the removal of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the Superintendent of Police (SP), Ri-Bhoi.

The RBSU president E J Nongpluh while demanding removal of the two officials, accused both the DC, CP Gotmare and the SP, R Singh as SP of being rubber stamps for politicians.

He went on to allege that the DC and SP were not cooperating with the people. “The SP often transfers police officials from one police station to the other,” he said.

“He (the SP) does not look into the well-being of police personnel but instead he disturbs the public by accusing innocent residents of committing anti-social activities,” Nongpluh added.

The organizations have demanded for the appointment of a tribal DC in the district. The two organizations also had earlier extended their support to the rally held on August 17 last demanding the removal of the DC and the SP.
