TURA: West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi has prohibited the functioning of Bernard Rimpu N Marak’s office of the Nokma and termed it as illegal.
Bakshi issued an order under the Criminal Procedure Code on Sunday that said Bernard’s acting as a Nokma and issuing land documents was illegal and could invite legal action.
The order has also banned the former militant chief from issuing any circular in any capacity of nokma or chief of Tura Nokma Committee. Under the DC’s order, Bernard Rimpu Marak cannot call for examining any revenue documents of patta or title ownership of any person nor can he contact individuals in the capacity of Tura Nokma.
