Flood situation in Bihar eases with major rivers continue to recede

Patna:  Flood situation in Bihar has started easing with major rivers continue to maintain downward trend even as flood toll has risen to 514.
The maximum number of 95 deaths has been reported from Araria district, according to sources at the state disaster management department.
More than 1.71 crore people are reeling under flood water in 19 districts of north Bihar. The flood affected districts are Kishanganj, Araria, Purnea, Katihar, East Champaran, West Champaran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Supaul, Madhepura, Muzaffarpur, Gopalganj, Saharsa, Khagaria, Saran, Samastipur and Siwan.
Source at the Central Water Commission said that several major rivers, which were in high spate, had started receding and flowing below the danger mark at various places along their course. These rivers are, however, flowing above the red mark at other places.
Source said that Ganga river was flowing above the danger mark at Sahebganj and Farakka by 39 cm and 48 cm respectively. (UNI)
