SHILLONG: Following the busting of the sex racket in Madanrting last Saturday, Shillong Police are now keeping a watch on the   hotels and guest houses in the city to ensure that such sex racket does not flourish anywhere else.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, East Khasi Hills SP, Davis Marak asserted that there had been strict monitoring of guest houses and hotels in the city forcing such rackets to shift to other locations.

The SP also informed that there were reports that some small time traffickers were even drug peddlers also.

The SP quoting intelligence reports said there were certain pimps in the city who are arranging girls not only from Shillong but also from Guwahati. Besides, these pimps also arrange clients.

While the three army personnel who were arrested with the girls   from Madanrting have been remanded to custody, six girls including two minors were being produced in the court on Tuesday.

The city police busted a prostitution racket on Saturday evening and arrested 10 persons, including six girls.

Following information, police raided a house located at Mable, Madanrting Block B around 7 pm and arrested six sex workers and four men including a pimp and 3 personnel of 22 Assam Rifles.

The tenant, who was running the sex racket, however, managed to escape, police said. Among the girls, some are from Khanapara and others from Garo Hills. Two of the girls are minors.

A case under Immoral Traffic Prevention Act was registered.
