Two police stations inaugurated in GH

Dadenggre: Chief Minister Dr. Mukul Sangma inaugurated the new Police Station at Damal Asim under Dadenggre Civil Sub-Division in West Garo Hills district in the presence of Clement Marak, Minister, Forests & Environment, Parliamentary Secretaries Limison D. Sangma and Noverfield R. Marak, Chairperson, State Development Reforms Commission Bluebell R. Sangma and DGP, Dr. S. B. Singh, among others on Monday.
The Chief Minister in his address said it was his joy and privilege to have had the opportunity to provide a police station for Damal Asim which was a long cherished dream of the people of the region, adding that there were people from the region who had abandoned farming and other activities and had gone looking for better opportunities due to pressures of militancy and insecurity they felt in their own backyards.
  However, in the recent years they have returned home to continue their trade of plantation and farming as they felt more secure than before and with the setting up of a police station, their morals and sense of security have also increased, he said. Sangma also talked about the difficulty the officers of the state were facing due to insecurity and threats of militancy, which he said would now decline due to the addition of more police stations and security being provided so that officers feel safe to discharge their duties.
DGP Dr. S.B. Singh, and SP, Dr. M. G. R. Kumar, IPS also spoke on the occasion while Deputy Commissioner Pravin Bakshi read out the notification and handed it over to newly appointed Officer-in-charge of Damal Asim Police Station. 
Meanwhile,  Silkigre Police Station in South Garo Hills District was inaugurated by Taxation Minister Zenith M Sangma on August 26 in the presence of Winnerson D Sangma, Parliamentary Secretary, Bluebell R Sangma local MLA, Dr. S. B. Singh, DGP, S. N. Marak Deputy Commissioner, Baghmara, A. T. Sangma SP, Baghmara and Skylance G Momin, Rtd IPS among others.
On creation of Silkigre Police Station, the areas coming under its jurisdiction shall cease to be under Chokpot Police Station.
