BSF seizes 13 boats, 29 cattle in Khasi Hills

SHILLONG: The Border Security Force has thwarted attempts to smuggle stones and cattle in East and South West Khasi Hills.
In a media statement issued on Thursday, BSF said its troops Gumaghat in South West Khasi Hills seized 13 wooden boats, which were used for smuggling stones through the Jadukatta river, worth Rs 5 lakh. One of the boats had an engine attached to it.
BSF said the Bangladeshi smugglers fled as soon as they spotted the border sentinels.
In another incident, BSF troops deployed at Nayabazar in East Khasi Hills seized 29 cattle worth more than Rs 5 lakhs while being smuggled to Bangladesh.
