Cattle traders make a hay ahead of Idu’l Zuha

Cattle on sale in Panbari area near Hallidayganj town, ahead of the celebration of Idu’l Zuha (Bakrid). Traders do brisk business selling cattle for the celebration that is also called “Sacrifice Feast” because it involves sacrificing of an animal. ST photo

The Shillong Times first appeared as a tabloid weekly on 10th August 1945 under the editorship of Late Sudhindra Bhusan Chaudhuri. In 1958 it was converted to a Daily. Owing to financial constraints, within six months it reverted back to a weekly.
