State launches online payment system

SHILLONG: The Finance Department on Thursday launched the Government Receipt Accounting System (GRAS) for online transactions.
The 24×7 system will be called Meghalaya e-payment and will be accessible on the website https://megepayment.gov.in.
As of now, a few departments have started functioning in the portal but it is expected to be fully functional by the end of the month.
The system will accept all government fees, revenue and payments from citizens and other agencies through various payment channels like internet banking, debit card, credit card, IMPS, including payment across bank counters of SBI branches.
Once the payment is done, instant online receipts for payment made and instant online banks transaction number will be made available to the payee.
A citizen can also pay personal and other taxes, fees and penalties on behalf of firms, companies and others.
