SHILLONG: Senior leaders of the National People’s Party (NPP) JS Kurbah and B. Sangma inaugurated the Mawsynram Block Committee office on Friday.
Hundreds of supporters attended the event as the felicitation of the appointment of the office bearers was confirmed. Don Marbaniang was appointed as Block President, Mithun Hajong as Block vice-president and Bimol Thabah as Block general secretary. Also present at the inauguration was Laplu M. Sangma, the organiser from Mawsynram constituency.
Sangma urged people to support the party and was confident that hard work can bring victory to the party in Mawsynram.
Babeth Sangma spoke of the need for the state to move ahead and catch up with other states in the country in terms of economic development and job employment opportunities. Other speaker at the event was Kurbah, who is the president of the East Khasi Hills District unit.
