KHNAM lauds prohibitory notice on religious issue
SHILLONG: The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has appreciated the Superintendent of West Jaintia Hills, R. Muthu for issuing caution pertaining to comments on religion on social media. The regional party has urged the people to not indulge in communal or religious conflicts which will divide the people.
Ban on stone quarrying in Chokpot
TURA: The additional district magistrate of South Garo Hills has prohibited stone quarrying in river beds and streams under the jurisdiction of Chokpot civil sub-division without a no objection certificate from authorities concerned. The order will come into immediate effect.
Free health camp held in city
SHILLONG: GVK EMRI – Meghalaya operations in collaboration with Shillong Nepali Christian Prayer Forum, organised a free medical health camp at Lumshyiap locality of Nongmynsong on Sunday. The health camp was organised to create awareness to the people of the locality on how to be health conscious. Doctors along with the paramedics of GVK EMRI took part in the camp. Members of the Shillong Nepali Christian Prayer Forum were also present to give support. Free medicines were provided by the office of the Director Health Service (MI) and a total of 300 people attended to take the benefit of the free medical health camp.

BSF training programmes held in WGH
SHILLONG: The Border Security Force has organised a month-long pre-recruitment training in Dalu in West Garo Hills which started on September 1. The programme aims at preparing the 32 participants, including six women, from bordering areas, for a career in the Central Armed Police Forces. Another month-long stitching training programme was organised for women at Purakhasia village in West Garo Hills.
