General meet
The annual general meeting of Assam Club will be held on September 10 on the club’s premises at 10:30 am.

Indian Bank
Loan mela for festive seaon is launched at the Indian Bank, Shillong Branch, Rainbow Complex, 1st Floor, Wahthapbroo, G S road. The bank offers Home Loan products by reducing the rate of interest and waiving processing charges effective from September 16 to January 2018. 

Lok Adalat
The District and Sessions Judge cum Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, West Garo Hills, Tura, has informed that the National Lok Adalat session on all subject matters will be held on September 9 on the Court premises. All concerned who have received summons are requested to attend the session for resolving their pending cases.

Science exhibition
St. Xavier’s Secondary School, Chima Impel, organised its third Science exhibition on Monday. The theme of the exhibition was based on awareness on the atmosphere, science fictions and natural calamities and its effects on humans and other living organisms.

Saplings planted
Goldstone Cements Limited (Black Tiger Cement), located in Jaintia Hills, has started rehabilitation of degraded lands on its plant premises by planting selective native trees influenced by ‘Akira Miyawaki Model’. Under the guidance of Dr Shantanu Kumar Dutta, Scientist, Central Pollution Control Board, they planted 7500 saplings of 57 native species trees recently.

Workshop
The District Rural Development Agency and IBDLP recently organised a three-day workshop on ‘Field Level Leadership Development Initiative and Communication Skills Development’ at Baghmara, South Garo Hills. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the Resource Persons trained by World Bank and Centre of Excellence for Change, Chennai. The programme was attended by officials from community and rural developmental blocks.

Career fair
A career exhibition cum conference was recently organised by the Guidance and Counselling unit of the Directorate of Educational Research & Training at Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School with T. G. Momin, Director of Educational Research & Training, as Chief Guest. The programme presently covers ten schools from each district.
