MAWKYRWAT: Cracks appear to be surfacing within the Hill State People’s Democratic Party with former member of district council Enbin K Raswai alleging that the allotment of party ticket to Renikton L Tongkhar was done “without following the right way” and that he would not accept party president Ardent M Basaiawmoit’s “dictatorial” decision.
Tongkhar was allotted a ticket to contest the Assembly elections from Mawkyrwat constituency on Tuesday as per the second list released by the party.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Raswai said he and the party workers were surprised by the decision of the state election committee to allot a ticket to Renikton without following the procedures.“This clearly shows the dictatorial leadership of Ardent. He overrides the resolution of the Area Unit without following the rules and regulations and constitution of the party,” Raswai alleged.
According to Raswai, the Area Unit of the party supported his candidatureHe said he would call a general meeting with party leaders within this week to decide his future course of action.
“The decision depends on the party leaders whether to support the party candidate, or extend support to others to contest from other parties. I will abide by the decision of the party leaders,” Raswai said.
