SHILLONG: The headman of Jongksha, Olet Kharsohnoh will start the “voice for change” movement from September 9 at Thynroit to discuss on various issues plaguing the Mawkynrew constituency.

Kharsohnoh who will contest the ensuing 2018 Assembly elections told reporters at a press conference on Thursday, “There will be discussions on various issues which is specific to Mawkynrew Constituency only.”

“Some of the issues are the difficulties faced by traditional heads, the encroachment by MUDA (Meghalaya Urban Development Authority), problems faced by farmers, unemployment, health issues and development of tourism,” he added.

On his election prospects, he said, “We haven’t discussed from which party I will contest. Party will be second opinion.”

Kharsohnoh observed that it is upto the electorate to elect their representative and not someone who “distribute tins or pumps to the people.”

According to him, a representative should be able to discuss on policies of the state and not merely distributes materials to the constituents.
