Bootlegging must end at Urkaliar locality by Dec 31

SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong Urkaliar, East Khasi Hills district, has given time till December 31 to the bootleggers to find another means of livelihood as they have observed that bootlegging has created a bad image to the society.

The local heads have submitted a petition to the Deputy Commissioner P S Dkhar on matters relating to bootlegging at Urkaliar Locality.

The local heads of the Dorbar held a meeting on Saturday in which landowners had taken a unanimous decision to stop bootlegging once and for all.

Apart from setting the December 31 deadline, the Dorbar Shnong cautioned the bootleggers to not operate their business during school hours and on Sunday since St. Jerome Church, Nongmynsong is located nearby.
