SHILLONG: The order on the criminal contempt case against former KHADC CEM Adelbert Nongrum and five HYC members will be delivered on October 25.
The pending case is regarding the contempt of court by Nongrum after he criticised the December 14, 2014, verdict of Justice SR Sen stripping the powers and functions of headmen.
Moreover, following the shouting of slogans by HYC members outside the court premises during the hearing of the contemptuous remarks by Nongrum on January 27, 2015, the High Court had earlier ordered a CBI inquiry that found the involvement of the pressure group.
The matter was posted for Monday for orders and further hearing following the last order delivered by the court on August 21.
In the last hearing, the court had granted bail to the five members of HYC against the personal bond of Rs 20,000 each.
Charges against the five accused were also ordered to be framed while charges against Nongrum, the principal contemnor, had already been framed on May 21, 2015.
Nongrum and the five HYC members were present during the hearing on Monday.
However, a request for adjournment was made by counsel JM Thangkhiew with the submissions that the arguing counsel for HYC members, K Paul, would not able to attend the court.
It was also submitted that the contemnors would be availing of the opportunity extended by the court for filing further statement of defence and that they may be granted some more time for the purpose.
The principal contemnor, the public prosecutor and the counsel for CBI did not have any objection.
The case was listed for orders and hearing on October 25 after the principal contemnor and the counsel appearing in the matter sought more time.
