About 400 attend Don Bosco organised Youth Retreat

TURA: One of the premier educational institutions in Garo Hills, Don Bosco College in Tura organised a three-day youth retreat during September 8-10, for college and high school students of Tura. The event was conducted  at the newly constructed Don Bosco Hall  by Dr Jayanand and his team from Bangalore and assisted by a team of Jesus Youth from Shillong. As many as 400 students of Don Bosco College and other institutions of Tura participated in the retreat.

Dr Jayanand, a former engineer and airlines pilot left a lucrative career  to dedicate his life full time to preach in response to a call from the Christ. Since then he has been on the move to fulfill his call and has preached the Word of God in more than 45 countries, including Russia and China.  Gifted with the powers of healing, counseling and intercession, he founded the Jesus Cares Ministries International.

During the three-day retreat in Tura he spoke on the importance of growing in Christian discipleship, God’s personal and unconditional love, emotional and sexual maturity, focusing  on right values and goals in one’s life and seeking God’s plan and help to live a purposeful life.  The retreat was enlivened with lively gospel songs led by Anil Antony and the Jesus Youth team.

Fr George Plathottam sdb, Rector, Don Bosco College, said the college intends to make the Youth Retreat an annual event.
