Mawkyrwat: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest the upcoming Assembly Election 2018 from Mawkyrwat Constituency in South West Khasi Hills District.
Official sources from the party informed The Shillong Times that the BJP Mawkyrwat Mandal in a meeting held on Tuesday at the party office in Mawkyrwat has decided to meet the state leaders and inform them that they are ready to contest the upcoming assembly elections.
“We have decided to meet the state leaders in the upcoming weeks and ask them to declare the name of the candidate who will be contesting from Mawkyrwat,” the sources said. Sources also said that there was only one leader from Mawkyrwat who has applied for the party ticket.
However, they don’t want to disclose the name of the ticket aspirant as they maintained that the state BJP should declare the candidate.
