Two NSCN-K cadres held with arms in Tinsukia district

Guwahati: Security forces engaged in relentless operations against insurgents in South Arunachal Pradesh and Tinsukia district of Assam apprehended two NSCN (K) cadre during the last 24 hours.

One NSCN (K) cadre identified as Kngmu Hakhun alias Ramesh Kakhun was apprehended from Malugain in Tinsukia district on Friday night and recovered a pistol, ammunition and a radio set from his possession, according to a Defence source in Kohima.

He joined the banned outfit in 2015 and has been active in the Ledo belt in Assam in carrying out extortion and providing logistic help on behalf of the outfit.

The Security Forces also apprehended another hardcore NSCN (K) cadre, self-styled private Singmai Hacheng, from the area on Saturday morning. The apprehended person admitted his allegiance to this banned organisation and informed that he was initially recruited in NSCN (R) in June 2015, carried out training with them and later defected to NSCN (K) in March, 2016 and has been involved with this banned outfit since them.
