SHILLONG: One of the frontline supporters of Mohendro Rapsang, Mike Pakyntein, was arrested on Friday in connection with the lobbing of a petrol bomb on the residence of West Shillong legislator Paul Lyngdoh at Mawprem.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said Pakyntein had been named as the suspect in the FIR filed after the incident.
In addition, soon after the incident, Pakyntein posted a Facebook status which allegedly read as ‘RIP Paul Lyngdoh’.
The district police chief further informed that Pakyntein has been booked under Section 506 of the IPC (criminal intimidation) and also for a case of arson.
Pakyntein was produced in the Court on Friday and was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
Earlier, Rapsang had denied the involvement of any of his supporters in the arson case at the residence of the sitting legislator.
