JOWAI: As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the Sein Raij Jowai organised a cleaning drive over a stretch of the River Myntdu at Pynthornein on Saturday.
West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner Ryntihlang Rapthap flagged off the cleaning drive at Lympyrdi Iongpiah in Jowai.
Residents of localities such as Panaliar, Dulong, Loompyrdi Iongpiah, Loomiongkjam, Tpep-pale, Chilliangraij and Loomkyrwiang along with students of Seiñraij Higher Secondary School, Jowai took part in the programme.
The Dolloi ka Elaka, Puramon Kynjin, Arwotki Sumer, general secretary Seiñ Raij among others were also present on the occasion. Earlier, the matter related to the cleanliness of the Myntdu was taken up by NGT.
