New office bearers
The North-Eastern Hill University Students’ Union office bearers of the term 2016-2017 on Tuesday handed over the reins to the new office bearers for the term 2017-2018 in the presence of the Prof H. Kayang, Dean Students’ Welfare and Dr R. L. Nongkhlaw, Proctor of NEHU. The outgoing president of the union Napoleon S. Mawphniang handed over the office reins to the new President Pynkmenlang Sanmiet.

World Rabies Day
The East Khasi Hills District Unit of the Meghalaya Veterinary Services Association (MVSA), Shillong celebrated World Rabies Day recently at the office of the Block Development Officer, Pynursla, under the Global Theme – Rabies : Zero by 2030. The programme was attended by Extra Assistant Commissioner, Pynursla Sub-Division, G. Warjri, as the Chief Guest. A vaccination camp against rabies for dogs was also conducted.

KVS games cancelled
The 48th National Games of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan which was scheduled to be conducted from October 6 to October 10 is cancelled due to administrative reasons. The stakeholders are thereby informed about the unexpected decision and the inconvenience caused is highly regretted. KV Happy Valley which was supposed to reopen after Autumn break on October 10 will now reopen on October 6 as per the vacation schedule of KVS.

Alumni meet
The annual general meeting of the Mawprem Modern Higher Secondary School Alumni Association will be held at 2 pm on October 14 at the school premises. All alumni members and ex-students of the school are requested to attend the meeting without fail.

Cleaning drive
The Bridge Organisation conducted a cleaning drive on October 2 in Mawnai village which falls under the Mairang C&RD Block to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Marathon
Kreeda Bharati Shillong unit organised a marathon on October 2 as part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Over 60 people participated and SP Crime branch,Vivek Syiem also attended the programme.
