SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma has dismissed the speculations that the Congress-led State Government headed by him is shaky in the fast changing political climate in the state.

“We know how to steer well in a real turbulent political climate,” Sangma said while responding to queries of journalists here on Thursday.

When asked about the allegations that the Government is not convening Assembly session as it is shaky, Sangma said that people should not   go by assumptions and presumptions and there were similar assumptions and presumptions   in the past too.

Replying to a query on when the session would be convened, Sangma said, “When Assembly sessions are convened, proper notice is given to all concerned,” adding a session was convened as recently as on June 12 this year.

On being asked about the entry of People’s Democratic Party (PDF) into the state politics, Sangma added that their entry would only benefit Congress.

Sangma, however, said that entry of any political party reflected the vibrant democracy of the nation.

He said that democracy of the country enabled everybody to venture out to serve people in the capacity of a politician.

He said that Government often told the misguided youths that democratic system provided space for anybody if they looked at themselves as game changer.
