Over Rs 93 lakh in cash recovered from Railway quarter

Guwahati: Police here recovered an amount of overs Rupees 93 lakh in cash in the denominations of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 notes from a railway quarter (294/A) in Maligaon and arrested one Jayanta Das in this connection.

Police said the railway quarter was taken on rent by one Ashok Das who was running an illegal money lending business from there. Police recovered huge amount of documents including bank pass books, cheque books besides the cash amount. Ashok Das is absconding while the police have picked up his brother Jayanta Das for interrogation.

Ashok Das allegedly engaged about a dozen employees for running his business of money lending in the city.
