SHILLONG: The suspended vigilance officer of NEEPCO, Abhishek Kumar, is yet to get any order of re-instatement though his earlier suspension order was withdrawn.
During the hearing of a case on October 12 in the court of Justice SR Sen, though counsel AM Bora, who appeared on behalf of SB Borgohain, Director of personnel at NEEPCO, had informed the court that the suspension order was withdrawn and “he is continuing his service”, he had not received any official order.
Earlier, former chief vigilance officer Satish Chandra Verma filed a case against Borgohain alleging that the latter along with PK Jaiswal, Executive Director Security at NEEPCO, and others locked and sealed the official chamber of vigilance officer Kumar. The case was later charge-sheeted.
However, the court quashed the trial against Borgohain. The respondents in the case were Verma and the state government.
Verma had initiated several measures to streamline the functioning of NEEPCO and his vigilance reports and petition were submitted before the Central Administrative Tribunal in Guwahati.
As per the charge sheet, Kumar was put under suspension since he did not comply with the order of transfer to Nagaland and accordingly the chamber was sealed and locked. The charge sheet also said Kumar was suspended by the authority concerned, but till date he did not receive the suspension order. Later on July 1. 2016, the sealed chamber of Kumar was unlocked.
However, in the earlier order delivered by chief justice Dinesh Maheshwari on August 18, 2016, after Kumar filed a case against NEEPCO, Kumar’s suspension was quashed and his transfer order was held redundant.
