Heroin seized, smuggler held

SHILLONG :  A suspected drug smuggler was arrested by Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) after 437.13 grams of heroin was seized from the vehicle he was traveling in, at Mawblei, East Khasi Hills, on Wednesday at 7:30 in the morning.

ANTF reached the spot and found drugs in 38 soap cases kept inside a bag. A female and the driver escaped from the vehicle which was suspected to come all way from Manipur which bore the registration number MN 02 B 1921.

A Home Guard Traffic Volunteer, R. Kharlor who was deployed at Mawblei Traffic noticed the speeding vehicle directing it to stop following which the driver entered the premises of Mawblei petrol pump in the trio’s attempt to escape, one was caught by Kharlor and residents.
