Office bearers
The Mawlai Block Congress Committee elected office bearers during a meeting held on Friday. The office bearers are president PT Sawkmie, working presidents, Batskhem Makdoh and Samuel Biam, vice presidents, RC Kharsyntiew and D War and general secy, Franky Massar among others. Another meeting of Mawlai Block Congress Mahila Committee elected Golda Pathaw as president. The others are working president, Ushababina Marbaniang, vice presidents, Ailin Massar, Peace Pakyntein and Easterlin Lawrynniang besides others.
KSU NEHU unit elected new office bearers for the year 2017-18 at old guest house NEHU on October 18. The new office bearers are James Hitler Mawphniang as president, Shiningstar Kharbihkhiew as vice-president, Pynkmenlang Sanmiet as general secretary besides 20 executive members.

Postal strike
In response to the call of National Federation of Postal Employees and AIPEU, GDS, the postal employees of N. E. Circle under the banner of NFPE & AIPEU GDS will observe mass protest at all centres and in front of all offices on October 23.

Marathon
The Meghalaya Frontier, Border Security Force will organise a Half Marathon (21 km) to pay homage to BSF Martyrs of Meghalaya and to felicitate their families at BSF Sector HQ, Mawpat, on October 22. The run will be open for all above 18 years. The run will start from BSF campus Mawpat via Lumshyiap-Golf link – Mawlai – Garikhana – Rilbong- Civil Hospital – Governor House – Nongmynsong – Iserwat and conclude at Mawpat.

Heritage walk
NEC in collaboration with North East Tourism Development Council, Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation and Campfire Trails, Shillong are organising ‘Mawphlang Sacred Grove and David Scott Heritage Walk’ as part of Paryatan Parv on October 21 for school children. NEC Planning Adviser will flag off the heritage walk at 8 am from NEC Secretariat premises, Nongrim Hills.
