SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills deputy commissioner PS Dkhar on Thursday said he would inquire into the complaints of harassment caused to Reliance Mobile subscribers in the wake of the telecom company’s network outage here.
The subscribers of the network in the city are in a state of confusion as to why they are unable to receive or make calls since the past several days. Besides, it is also not clear as to whether the company is shutting down its services or the problem is just temporary.
The response after a call made to a Reliance number, as of today, is: “All lines in this route are busy”…
As of now, there has been no intimation from the telecom company as to why their services have been abruptly stopped.
The Reliance Communications (RCom) office in the city has also been closed for many days.
Unable to stay connected, some subscribers here have already started the process of porting their numbers to other companies. However, there are problems related to portability as there is no response via SMS from Reliance network which is necessary for portability.
A Reliance Mobile official said though there was no circular from the company with regard to closure of operations in the country, the firm has already asked most of its employees to quit. Many have submitted their resignation letters. According to media reports, Reliance Communications is shutting major parts of its wireless business in the next 30 days to stem growing losses.
