It is ‘Roy’s den’ in Shella

SHILLONG: A section of the residents from Shella constituency predicted that it will be difficult to oust the sitting MLA, Donkupar Roy as one person termed Shella constituency as “Roy’s den”.

“The sitting MLA will surely retain his position. Other parties cannot secure their ground in the constituency,” he said

Another person said, “The UDP-HSPDP alliance has strengthened his position. The people here usually look for regional parties.”

Shella constituency has a mix population of Khasi, Garo whereas in the border region there are the communities of Hajong, Assamese etc., and Shella proper has a vote count of 3000.

Other political parties in the poll fray in the constituency are aspirants from the parties like BJP, People’s Democratic Front (PDF), an Independent candidate, Congress, National People’s Party (NPP).
