Fire destroys 13 shops in SWKH

MAWKYRWAT: A late-night fire at Umjarain Market near Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills destroyed 13 shops.
Sources said around 1.30 pm on Friday, fire broke out in one shop and spread to the adjacent ones.
Fire tenders have to be called in to douse the flames.
Most of the shops which were destroyed were petty shops, the sources said. The extent of loss is yet to be assessed. Investigation is on to ascertain the cause of the fire.
