Ri Bhoi Police seize huge quantity of illegal liquor at Nongpoh

NONGPOH: The Ri-Bhoi police seized huge quantity of illegal liquor consisting of both local and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in a surprise raid conducted on Monday at Nongpoh.

Ri-Bhoi district police chief, Ramesh Singh informed that the surprise raid was conducted to comply with the order of the District Court on the increasing availability of illegal liquor at Nongpoh Town.

Singh also informed that during the surprise raid, huge quantity of illegal local and IMFL liquor were seized from one shop owned by Gudhly Sohpdang, a local resident of Nongpoh.

He also informed that the owner of this illegal wine shop will be penalized as per Sections of law, adding that as per the District Court order, the seized liquor will be destroyed after formal procedure conducted as per law.

The Ri Bhoi Police chief further stated that surprised raid on illegal wine shop would be conducted on regular basis.
