Assam Cong leader’s son accused in jobs scam surrender

Guwahati: One more tainted Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer, accused in the jobs-for-cash scam rocking Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), Rajorshi Sen Deka, has finally surrendered before police on Monday after he had remained absconded for seven days.

Rajorshi Sen Deka is the son of Congress leader, Nilamoni Sen Deka who was a cabinet minister in the previous Congress government in the state headed by Tarun Gogoi. The jobs-for-cash scam also took place during the Congress regime.

He was immediate arrested by the police in connection with the scam.  So far 22 out of the 25 accused ACS and Assam Police Service (APS) officers, have been taken into custody by Assam police while three more wanted officers, Nishamoni Deka, Rumi Saikia and Rakesh Gupta have remained at large.
