TURA: A village Nokma of Rongding Awe in South Garo Hills has been abducted by suspected GNLA militants late Sunday night, according to delayed report received here on Tuesday.
An armed group of four unidentified men came to the house of the village chieftain Jonisol M Sangma (60) at Rongding Awe, 65 kms from Baghmara and asked him to escort them.
The village falls under Nangalbibra police station.
Since the nokma had gone out escorting the armed men he has remained untraced.
Garo Hills police suspect the hand of GNLA outfit in the abduction since another village nokma was abducted by the same group, 12 kms away in West Khasi Hills, barely one week ago.
