June 22 state holiday for Thomas Jones

SHILLONG: The State Cabinet has announced an additional holiday on June 22 in recognition of Rev. Thomas Jones following several petitions from citizens while finalising the 2018 calendar.
The upcoming calendar will have 24 general holidays, excluding Saturdays and Sundays, besides 21 holidays under the NI Act. In addition, there will be 11 days of restricted holiday.
Meanwhile, the State Cabinet has also decided to constitute District Minerals Foundation to administer funds required to take care of those affected by mining activities.
The decision to constitute the foundation has been taken as per the Mines and Mineral Regulations Bills Amendment Bill, 2015.
