NPP names 3 more poll candidates in 2nd list

SHILLONG: After the release of its first list of 24 poll candidates in the second week of November, the state Election committee of the National People’s Party (NPP) has announced names of three more candidates in its second list in the run up to the next Assembly polls to be held early 2018.

 Three candidates whose names were cleared by the committee on November 18 included Pyniaid Sing Syiem from 13-Mawryngkneng, Jigur Myrthong from 34-Mawshynrut and Don Kupar Massar, a former Minister, from 35-Ranikor.

 In a statement released to the press, W.R. Kharlukhi, chairman of the state election committee and state president of NPP, informed that names of the rest of the candidates would be announced shortly by the State Election Committee of the NPP.

 Among the three candidates, Syiem is a sitting MDC of Sohryngkham, Massar is a former MLA while Myrthong is a known face in the state’s political arena.

 The NPP’s first list of candidates included Jowai- Wailadmiki Shylla, Mookaiaw-Gilbert Sten, Mawhati-Dasakhiatbha Lamare, Nongpoh- Cleophas B Syiem, Jirang- Sosthenes Sohtun, Nongkrem- Hispreachingson Shylla, Mawsynram- Laplu M Sangma, Shella- Sainkupar Riahtam, Mairang- Lawanpynshngain K War, Nongstoin- Macmillan Byrsat, Rambrai-Jyrngam- Alfred Kharbani, Mendipathar- FW Momin, Resubelpara- TD Shira, Songsak- Nihim D. Shira, Williamnagar- Marcuise N Marak, Raksamgre- Benedict Marak, Phulbari- Manirul Islam Sarkar, Rajabala- Mizanur Kazi, Selsella-FCA Sangma, North Tura- Thomas A Sangma, Salmanpara- Ian Botham Sangma and Siju Rongara- Rakkam Sangma, South Tura -Agatha K. Sangma.
