NONGPOH/ SHILLONG: NPP has denounced personal attacks in the run-up to the Assembly polls and asserted that it wanted to win the polls by focusing on positive things.
When contacted, NPP national president and Tura MP Conrad Sangma said on Tuesday that he was misquoted as far as the comments on sending the chief minister to jail once NPP comes to power during a gathering at Nongpoh is concerned.
“I was misquoted, I never said anything like this,” Conrad said.
According to Conrad, he never believed and played this kind of politics and will never do as no one wins resorting to this pattern of politics.
“I also urge party leaders not to indulge in personal attacks but rather focus on positive things which the party will do for the people of Meghalaya,” Conrad said.
Earlier in the report, the quotes of NPP’s member of the district council HS Shylla who criticised the chief minister, were erroneously attributed to Conrad.
