TURA: Tura police have arrested a 20- year-old labourer engaged in construction work at the Tura government College after a girl student raised an alarm and accused him of attempted molestation.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the 18-year-old student was alone in class while the labourers were working in the nearby building.

The accused worker allegedly caught hold of her hand prompting her to raise an alarm. On hearing her shouting two other workers rushed in and accosted their colleague over the incident.

In the meantime, an angry mob of people arrived on the scene and gave a sound trashing to the accused and the other two workers. They were taken to the Tura civil hospital for medical treatment and police took into custody the accused who hails from village Bogaon Chatamari in Goalapra district of Assam.
