TURA: The A’we winter Festival began today at Resubelpara Mini Stadium in North Garo Hills District to the rhythmic beats of traditional Wangala drums, folk dances and other colourful programmes.
A’we Winter Festival is jointly organised by the district administration, Art and Culture Department, Chief Minister’s Youth Development Scheme, Chief Minister’s Youth for Green Campaign Movement, IBDLP and DSPS, North Garo Hills.
Inaugurating the festival, district Deputy Commissioner, S C Sadhu said that the festival marked an important event in the lives of people to develop a positive mindset towards enduring peace and tranquility in the region and urged them to give their best to make the festival fruitful.
Addressing the youths, Sadhu encouraged them to make the most of the festival by showcasing their talents and to identify their hidden potential in order to pursue it with passion and dedication.
The Deputy Commissioner hoped for more elaborate celebration of the event and requested all stakeholders to provide honest feedback, cooperation and contribute ideas so as to create a livelier event in the near future.
The two-day event will consist of Wangala dance competition, indigenous games, industrial exhibition, inter-locality tug of war, archery, beach volleyball, baby fashion show, MLA soccer final match, Voice of North Garo Hills, rock beat contest, rock concert and beauty contest.
