Governor inaugurates 9th East Himalayan Expo in Shillong

9th EAST HIMALAYAN EXPO-2017 INAUGURATED

 SHILLONG: With the aim of promoting trade & commerce of North East States, the 9th East Himalayan EXPO-2017 was inaugurated on Thursday  by the Governor of Meghalaya, Ganga Prasad at the U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong, in the presence of the Meghalaya Chief Secretary,  Y Tsering and Additional Chief Secretary,  P W Ingty. The week long EXPO is being organised in the premises of the State Central Library by the India Trade Promotion Organisation in association with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and supported by the Government of Meghalaya, National Small Industries Corporation and Ministry of Ayush, according to a Government communique.

The product profile of the EXPO which will continue till December 20, comprises of organic sector, horticulture, household goods. Food items including processed food, textiles, handicraft, leather products, electrical and electronic items, jute products, textile, good living, cosmetics, herbal products, health & fitness equipment, IT products, furniture, tourism, service sector etc.

Altogether 81 stalls have been put up for exhibition and sale. It is hoped that through participation in such fairs, artisans, entrepreneurs, start-ups etc., will get much needed exposure to further enhance their knowledge base and improve their market linkages.​
