SHILLONG: Newly-appointed working president of the Nationalist Congress Party, Vijay Raj has put all speculations to rest by saying that South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai will not leave the party.
Speaking to The Shillong Times here on Monday, Raj said Shullai has not left the party and that he was still a part of the party.
“He (Sanbor) has been relieved from the post of president since he wanted to concentrate on his constituency,” Raj said.
On NCP’s preparedness for the upcoming polls, he said the party would contest in the maximum number of seats.
“We want to put up candidates with the winnability factor,” he said.
The party is contemplating announcement of the names of its candidates by the first or second week of January.
Asked if Saleng Sangma, Independent MLA from Gambegre, would join NCP, Raj replied in affirmative, saying he would join the party later.
