Liquor set to get cheaper in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Liquors in the state are set to get cheaper   following the decision of the State Cabinet to amend necessary excise rules for rationalising the whole pricing mechanism by the retailer keeping in mind the market behaviour.

Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma after the State Cabinet meeting here on Thursday said that the classification cost of   price based on these brands were a little high and   government even received petitions indicating that the competitive market was getting affected.

The Department of Excise prepared a proposal to rationalise over all précising by reviewing the ad valorem on the different IMFL brands.

According to Chief Minister, as per the new proposal, the brand of   deluxe prestige will be reduced by Rs 25 per case, deluxe premium by Rs 150 per case, semi premium by Rs 200, premium by Rs 200, super premium by Rs 100, liquor/ wine by Rs 1000, beer by Rs 1500.

The Cabinet was also assured by the Cabinet that it will mop up more realisation of revenue for the department.
