Wankhar debuts with “Pynieng La Ka Daw”

SHILLONG:  The debut music album of D J Wankhar, “Pynieng La Ka Daw” was released here in the city on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Editor of The Shillong Times, Patricia Mukhim said that many songs of the album highlighted the tradition and culture of the State and its people while hoping that the songs in the album would inspire people especially youths to face and overcome various challenges which the society was facing

Stating that there are many challenges in front of the society, Mukhim also expressed concern over the growing number of youths getting inflicted with drugs.

While making a clarion call for community spirit, Mukhim stressed on the need for a strong peer to overcome such challenges.

Another columnist, Dominic Wankhar who was present on the occasion as special guest said that music was a universal language with no boundaries, adding that many people have music as inborn talent which needs to be discovered.

Earlier, the composer of the album, D J Wankhar   while dedicating the album to his late father said that there was optimism at the end of his songs.

Khasi Students’ Union has also contributed towards the making of this album, he said

“If you appreciate my music, I will be more than happy,” he added. The price of the album is Rs 200.
