SHILLONG: The NPP public rally in Polo on Thursday was apparently the biggest crowd puller among the political programmes in the city in recent times.
The announcers at the NPP meeting said that despite arrangement of 10,000 seats for the public there was shortage with many forced to stand.
The rally today witnessed more crowd than the one addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the same venue last month.
People’s Democratic Front too had organised a similar rally at the same venue with a decent turnout.
The BJP meeting held at Pynthorumkhrah recently where four MLAs joined the saffron party also did not attract too many people as many seats in the back rows were unoccupied.
Political parties often try to show their strength by attracting more and more people to public rallies and meetings.
