SHILLONG: Former Nongkrem legislator, Lambor Malngiang   has alleged that the Chief Minister, Dr Mukul Sangma has not given due attention to the overall development of the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region though he has the quality of a good leader.

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the foundation day of the Seng Samla Shnong Mawlynnei Nongkrem on Tuesday, Malngiang said that the people of Khasi-Jaintia Hills regions were not happy with the CM  since he had not given the desired attention to the needs and problems of the people of this region,

According to Malngiang, Chief Minister’s focus has been to develop only one particular region of the State which has not gone well with the people of the region.

The former Nongkrem legislator also alleged that many major projects meant for the Khasi-Jaintia Hills region had been diverted elsewhere.

Making it clear that he has nothing against the Congress party, Malngiang informed that his supporters wanted him to contest the upcoming polls as an independent candidate and hence, he had not sought Congress ticket.

When asked about the prevailing situation within the Congress, he said that it was an open secret that all was not well within the Congress especially and this was evident from the fact that a large number of sitting legislators had left the party.

When asked about his assessment on the works of the sitting MLA, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, he said did not want to speak much on the good and bad things of the sitting MLAs.

“People are the best judge on the performance of the sitting MLAs,” he said.

Earlier, Malngiang felicitated students from the locality who have done well in the SSLC and HSSLC examinations conducted by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE).

A special award was given to the youths who have made outstanding contributions for the betterment of the village. (EoM)
